Project Overview
IP Australia required a website to be developed for one of its primary audiences – small business – to support their published material under the brand of Smart Start. Using printed materials as a guide, Link were appointed to design and develop the Smart Start website to sit as a subsite from the main IPA site.

Consulting Approach
As the Smart Start website was based on a printed publication, the navigation structure was developed to match the chapter indexing of the book. Link developed additional interactive functions such as the 10 Steps Flash presentation and linked to the existing Confidentiality Agreement Generator. The site was also developed in accordance with Government accessibility guidelines and standards.
Development Solution
The focus of the design for the Smart Start website was to use real life examples of small business owners being IP savvy. Using a text cue developed by IPA about 10 steps to making money, Link incorporated a step-based visual feature using old dance step instructions. This concept formed the premise of the website, being a step-by-step guide to understanding IP issues and how they work for small businesses. The step approach was so popular with the IPA staff that it was incorporated within the printed materials being designed.
Successful Outcome
The Smart Start website was developed within timeframe and budget adhering to all of the specified requirements. Link once again proved their ability to be a reliable and reusable resource for IP Australia.
