Project Overview

Link was engaged by the Parliamentary Education Office to develop the second phase of the KidsView website, which consisted primarily of developing Flash-based learning interactives for the already existing education topics. 

Consulting Approach

Link worked with PEO staff collaboratively to produce sound ideas for the interactives to ensure that they met the educational requirements as well as providing an engaging and fun environment for the target audience of Upper Primary students. Another consideration of the project was to ensure that the site met accessibility standards required by a Government organisation.

Development Solution

---

Link developed a number of Flash based interactives for the KidsView website, all of which were able to be content managed by PEO staff. The most extensive interactive was an activity called Pass the Bill, which is a scenario based activity which takes the user through the process and possible outcomes of taking a new bill through both the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Successful Outcome

---

After working with PEO project staff for an extensive period, the second phase of the KidsView website was released to the public in May 2005. The site has undergone minor changes since then and PEO staff have relied on support from Link in order to complete these changes. The website has also been reproduced in a CD ROM format to distributed to regional areas with accessibility or bandwidth restrictions.
