Project Overview
Link Web Services were recently appointed by Niche Strategies to undertake complete redevelopment of the Museums Australia (MA) website. The website required a complete redesign and restructure of information to support its varied base of users, ensuring that usability and accessibility guidelines were strictly adhered to.

Consulting Approach
Museums Australia has a membership base of approximately 5000 individuals and associations, within which are state branches and numerous Special Interests Groups. To ensure that all of these user’s needs were met, Link and Niche conducted in depth consulting with a designated committee as well as running a user needs survey with the members of the board, consisting of approximately 30 industry professionals. Information from these consultations resulted in Link determining a final project brief and specification which was approved by MA prior to any design or development work being undertaken.
Development Solution
Supporting the visual approach to the website is a mass of well structured and up-to-date information that encourages target group users to return to the MA website as a source of relevant and valuable information. The Content Management System applied to the MA site provides designated MA staff members overall administration of the entire site, while a sophisticated multi-user access system allowed designated users of State Branches and Special Interest Groups control over the content of the site directly relevant to them. The CMS also includes records based management functions to allow MA staff to manage upcoming events, news items, discussion boards and various other member features, including online registration.
Successful Outcome
The Museums Australia website went live in 2005. The CMS has provided MA with a highly effective solution to manage the vast amount of content within their site that has smoothly integrated with the management of their existing membership processing and payment system.
