Project Overview
In early 2002, Link Web Services was appointed by IP Australia (IPA) to redevelop it’s primary website. The website was to be redesigned with a focus on information architecture and varying user paths to information.

Consulting Approach
Being a Government Department, the IPA required their website to adhere to accessibility guidelines and standards. However, due to the innovative nature of IPA’s primary services and core business the design of the site needed to reflect a modern and progressive environment. Link produced a design concept that visually reflected this need as well as being a highly accessible and usable site.
Development Solution
Link’s initial design concept was submitted as part the proposal phase and ended up becoming the basis for what is now the IP Australia website. Working with IPA staff, the content and structure was refined to provide users with a clear interface and overview of the wealth of content within the site. Approximately one year after development of the site, the branding needed to be updated to reflect the new Whole of Government policy. The IPA logo was replaced by the Australian Government Commonwealth Crest. Due to the minimalist nature of the design, this change did not impact heavily on the layout or structure of the site. In mid-2005 Link were again appointed to redesign the home page of the site to accommodate the updated content and needs of the organisation since the original brief in 2002.
Successful Outcome
IP Australia have worked with Link on numerous projects over the last four years, including the
Smart Start website, an corporate portfolio presentation, Christmas eCards and ongoing commitments to the APEC-IPEG website and organisations, including the Nepal Industrial Property Office website. Link maintains a close working relationship with the IPA marketing and technical teams, demonstrating our ability to fully understand the requirements of a Government Department and repeatedly meet their needs.
